AMAZING TRIP TO EBC

Until now, I can’t believe I had done this trekking trip in my life and I so proud of myself. When I was a student, I just knew Everest as the highest mountain in the world and I couldn’t think one day I could see it. The trip was hard, but I did it with all the kind support from Kumar (my guide) and my friendly porter. The weather was clear and nice so I could see the Himalaya range. If you want to make your dream to see the Himalaya range and the top of the world I can highly recommend Top1trekking company, which helped me a lot to do a wonderful trip to EBC.

AMAZING EVEREST BASE CAMP TRIP

I got an offer to go to EBC from my very old friend, Mr. Nguyen Thanh Long, on my birthday (4/12/2018). I said “yes” and didn’t realize that I was going through the biggest challenge in my life so far. Luckily, we had chosen the right agency, Top1Trekking: very good price, good service and very supportive tour guide, porters. They made it easier on those long, cold, hard trekking days. Without them, I couldn’t make my Himalaya dream come true. Thanks, top1trekking. I had an amazing time.

EBC TREK – WONDERFUL TRIP

I made a decision to go to Nepal more than 1 year ago, it was hard to find a company in this plan. I don't know why I choose Top1Trekking but it's a great choice for Everest Base Camp.  It's lucky when I had more friends in this adventure, guide and porters helped us a lot during the trip, we spend trekking time with a full smile, laugh, and happy with spectacular scenes... I had a thinking that I can not reach to Base camp when I got a little headache at Thukla 4620m and the weather is bad that day - heavy snow and wind, but I did it successfully with my team and Top1Trekking... This is a great experience from the first day to the end of the trip. After EBC trek, I had 2 days in Lumbini - the birthplace of the Lord Buddha. I'm not a Buddhist, but the feeling, while staying in the sacred garden and looking to Maya Devi temple - where Sakyamuni Buddha was born, is very relief and peaceful... Many thanks for Top1Trekking, you gave me a lot of wonderful things and best services for all my trip... especially took me to Everest Base Camp 5480m - the dream of many trekkers around the world

Instead of two months climbing go trekking to Everest Base Camp without risking your life to see this legendary mountain shall be the most gratifying event of your life.

VARIATIONS

Visitors want to reach Khumbu Region by foot can start from Salleri which take 5 days trek to Namche Bazar.

EBC is one of the most popular trek in the region but there are others destination offer far better Himalayan landscape such as the Gokyo Lakes, Gokyo Ri view point or the Cho La Pass. If you have some extra days in your hand, we highly recommend adding Gokyo in your journey. You can trek to Gokyo, return to Gorakshep.

Short on time, you can take a helicopter ride to Lukla or Kathmandu from Gorakshep.

SEASON

  • Spring (from late February to late May) is a busy season for the climbers also trekkers. You get to see rhododendron flowers from mid-Mar to middle of May. Note: From late May the weather getting hot, clouds may hide away high peaks in lower elevation 3,500m. Flight delay in Lukla can occur frequently.

  • Autumn (Late September to Middle of December) is a good time to cross high passes such as Cho La to Gokyo valley or Kongma La to Chukkung

  • Since the EBC getting busier in the main season so recently few other trekkers choose to hike in lower season such as Winter (From late December to Feb) or monsoon (Jun to Sep)

WHO CAN TREK EBC?

You need not be athletic to trek the Everest base camp.

It is doable for most people who have good health with previous hiking experience (been travel to the high elevation) or fit enough to walk comfortably 4-8 hours per day.

On an average, you walk 15km per day with trail ascents and descents from the elevation of 2,610m to the maximum of 5,555m at Kala Patthar.

WHAT ABOUT ALTITUDE SICKNESS?

Most of people who can’t reach Everest Base Camp because they don’t spend enough time to acclimatise.

THE CAUSE OF ALTITUDE SICKNESS

  • Ascent too fast (more than 500m per day)

  • No rest day for doing acclimatise (Each ascent of 1,000m need to have at least one more day stay in same elevation)

  • Dehydrate because don’t drink enough water

  • Can’t adapt to the food in the high mountain (no energy to walk)

  • Don’t pack enough warm cloth, can’t sleep because of the cold.

DESIGN ITINERARY WITH ALTITUDE SAFE RULES

These rule of altitude sickness we keep in mind when design itinerary:

  • Climb higher, sleep lower (Hike Chukung – 4,730m sleep at Dingboche 4,410m)

  • After sleeping over 3,000m, shouldn’t gain over 300-500m in one day

  • Every 1,000m ascent after 3,000m should have 1 day for acclimatization (Namche Bazaar & Dingboche)

THE GOLDEN RULE

  • Take rest when you feel tired

  • Acclimatise hike as recommendation

  • Walk slow at your own pace

  • Drink plenty of water

  • Follow your own pace

WHAT NEED TO PREPARE FOR EBC HIKING TRIP?

Get Fit

  • Cardio exercise is good: Running, swimming, cycling, Walk uphill and downhill (Start with 30 minutes then increase to 60before you go)

  • Increase your thigh strength (squat) & lung capacity (yoga)

Pack the right gear

  • The weather in the mountain changes fast and there is a high shift of temperature during days and nights.

  • Pack as layers: Don’t forget important layers such as down-jacket, waterproof jacket

Get your mind ready!

We design EBC trek itinerary with 2 days recommendation for doing acclimatise hike but you need to know where to stop when you reach your limits.

Don’t chase other people in the group; you won’t be left behind. So go slowly at your own pace.
